How it all began...

One Passionate Woman, Two Abandoned Dogs, and Lots of Great Friends...

Pit Bulls of St. Francis is a foster based rescue, founded by Sarah Daniel, with some saintly supportive friends and family. The rescue is named for the first two dogs Sarah picked up off the side of the road in 2013 and kept in a friend's llama barn for a week until perfect homes could be found.

Every day of that week, she prayed to St. Francis, the patron saint of animals, to help find those sweet, sad, skinny pit bulls loving, happy adopters. Through a series of fortunate events, Simon and CC were adopted by amazing people, and Sarah has been picking up, rehabilitating, and rehoming strays with the help of her supportive friends and family ever since!

In the last year the organization has expanded its Board of Directors and Foster network to allow us to pull from high kill shelters and save as many canine lives as possible.

We're glad you're reaching out!

Please note that we are completely volunteer based, so please be patient as our we work to answer all of the requests and emails we receive!

Please do not contact us about strays as we are a small team of dedicated fosters, and not an intake facility. To report a stray please contact Louisville Metro Animal Services here.
